Postal worker on fraud charge

A ROYAL Mail worker accused of stealing nearly a quarter of a million pounds from his employer has appeared before the town's magistrates.

Thomas Arnold, of Pevensey Bay Road, entered no plea at Eastbourne Magistrates Court on Friday morning (August 29).

The 36-year-old allegedly stole 246,085.53 from Royal Mail between November 1, 2007 and June 4, 2008.

He also faces a charge of fraud by false representation between the same dates.

The case was adjourned for the preparation of committal papers and Arnold will reappear at Eastbourne Magistrates Court on October 24 to be formally committed to the crown court.

He was granted bail with conditions to live and sleep at his address in Pevensey Bay and to report weekly at Eastbourne police station.
