Pony dies in sex attack

A young pony was murdered in a sexual attack at a sanctuary in Polegate at the weekend.

The distraught owners of Bunnie, the 17-month-old pony, discovered her mutilated body in a field at the Little Bramble Farm Horse Sanctuary in Sayerlands Lane, Polegate.

Zoe McQuade from the sanctuary said they called the vet and police immediately after they found Bunnie with severe internal injuries.

Zoe said, “It is absolutely heartbreaking. Bunnie was one of the sweetest ponies. She had been sexually assaulted and murdered. She was left in full view of people walking along the Cuckoo Trail.

“We are asking anyone who might have been in the area first thing in the morning and who may have seen somebody acting suspiciously to contact the police and help them find the sick individual who did this.”

It is the second time in a month a pony at the sanctuary has been attacked. A pony called Charlie was left with severe internal injuries after being attacked four weeks ago.

He underwent major surgery and is now recovering.
