Police appeal for information after Eastbourne railway station robbery
BRITISH Transport Police (BTP) detectives are appealing for information after a man was robbed at knifepoint at Eastbourne railway station.
Investigators also want to identify a man, pictured in the CCTV images, in connection with the incident, which took place in the station car park, near to the Enterprise Centre, in the early hours of June 20.
The victim, a 24-year-old from Eastbourne, was walking through the car park and using his phone around 2.20am when he was approached by a man, who asked him for some money.
When the victim refused the man asked if he could use the victim's phone, but was again rebuffed.
The man then pointed to a blade of a knife, partially concealed in his sleeve, at which point the victim handed over his phone.
Detective Constable Rob Cager, the investigating officer, said, "We are conducting a number of local enquiries as part of the investigation into this incident and anyone with any information about what took place should get in contact.
"We are also keen to hear from anyone who thinks they might recognise the man pictured in the CCTV images as we would like to identify and talk to him in connection with this incident.
"Sadly there is a minority who believe it is acceptable to behave in a criminal and threatening manner.
"This type of behaviour will not be tolerated, and we will do everything in our power to catch the person responsible."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact British Transport Police on Freefone 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference B5 LSA of 28/07/10 or call Crimestoppers free and anonymously on 0800 555 111.
