Police witness appeal over row with Eastbourne ambulance driver

POLICE are investigating an incicent between an ambulance driver and a man which took place two months ago when the Olympic torch passed through Eastbourne.

An ambulance was called to deal with a woman who had collapsed in Cavendish Place on Tuesday, July 17 at 3pm. The ambulance was parked by the junction of Elms Road and Cavendish Place where large crowds of people watching the torch pass along the route.

According to Sussex Police, there was then an altercation between the South East Coast Ambulance Service driver and a man who was standing nearby. No patient was being treated at the time.

PC Chris Yabsley said: “I am aware this was a while ago but there were hundreds of people in the town for the Olympic torch. We are asking for any witnesses to come forward who saw or heard the incident.”
