Police looking for hit and run driver

A motorcyclist was rushed to hospital after being knocked off her bike by a hit and run driver.

Officers are now trying to trace the person behind the wheel of the small silver car that failed to stop.

The accident happened at 1.15pm on Tuesday (October 23) in Lottbridge Drove.

The motorcyclist was riding her blue Suzuki Swift motorbike and was in front of the silver car as they drove along Lottbridge Drove, went around the Hydneye roundabout and headed off on Mountfield Road towards the level crossing.

The silver car struck the Suzuki and the impact pushed the machine and rider into a dark coloured Volkswagen Polo car.

The silver car was then seen to reverse but then carried on along Mountfield Road and disappeared.

The driver of the Suzuki Swift, a 43-year-old woman from Eastbourne, was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital for treatment to minor neck and back injuries.

PC Stuart Kenway from the Sussex Police Road Policing Unit at Polegate said, “We are keen to trace the driver of the small silver car who did not stop at the scene of the collision.”

“If you witnessed it, know of a similar car that has sustained damage in the last few days or have any information that could help police with our investigation, please call 101 quoting serial 795 of 23/10.”

Or potential witnesses can call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously and free of charge on 0800 555 111.
