Police investigate Eastbourne town centre rape

PARTS of Eastbourne town centre were cordoned off this morning after police launched a rape investigation.

An area around Cavendish Bridge roundabout where it meets Upper Avenue had been sealed off as police carried out the investigation. According to officers, the woman was raped at around 4am this morning.

There was minimal disruption to rush hour traffic, with one officer guarding the area. Police say that one man has been arrested.
