Police investigate 20 burglaries in just three months in Seaford

Police are investigating a spate of burglaries in Seaford as 20 break-ins have been reported in just three months.

Since the beginning of November 2012, there have been 20 break-ins at houses and bungalows in and around the town, mostly during the day.

In most cases force has been used on doors and windows, with jewellery, cash and electrical items being stolen. The most recent offence was last week in Hartfield Road.

Police are reminding local residents about the importance of locking all doors and windows and keeping an eye on neighbours’ properties.

Detective Constable David Styles, of the East Sussex Priority Crime Team, said, “If you spot any suspicious activity call 999 right away.

“If you have any suspicions as to who the offender or offenders might be, or if you have any further information, please call me via 101 in confidence.

“Alternatively you can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

“Because of the similarities in methods used to gain entry we are considering the possibility that one person or one group may be responsible.

“Police patrols are paying extra attention to the areas concerned, PCSOs are talking to residents, and we are actively investigating each offence, but you can help by being security aware and reporting suspicions.”
