Police fund new noticeboard
EASTBOURNE police have donated a £400 cheque to a community group which had its noticeboard vandalised.
PC Ed Faulkner presented the money to the Sovereign Harbour Residents' Association.
PC Faulkner said, "I am really pleased to be working alongside both the Sovereign Harbour Residents' Association and the Neighbourhood Panel.
"As Neighbourhood Police we rely on the support of the residents to tackle the issues that matter to them and the strong support we have from them makes a real difference to the results we can deliver.
"I am proud of the links we have built up and this money will go directly to increasing our communication with residents and to allow more people to get in touch with us."
Rick Runalls, chair of the SHRA, said, "It's great to see the way the police have responded to the vandalism of the SHRA notice board.
"The growing links between the police, SHRA and the Neighbourhood Panel is fundamental for the development of the Harbour community, and this generous contribution is most welcome.
"I have contacted Carillion for its support in siting the new noticeboard on the Waterfront and look forward to their reply."
Jan Weeks, chair of the Neighbourhood Panel, added, "I'm delighted that Ed has managed to find the funding to get this valuable community resource restored, and that the SHRA has offered to share it with the Neighbourhood Panel."
The money is provided thanks to Police Property Act Fund who support many community projects across Sussex through the selling of unclaimed property.
