Police arrest Seaford man after tip-off from public

Police have arrested a Seaford man who was wanted for recall to prison following a tip off from a member of the public.

On Monday, Sussex Police put out an appeal asking for information about the 24-year-old whose last known address was in Seaford.

The man was wanted for breach of licence conditions having originally been sentenced to three years’ imprisonment at Lewes Crown Court in January 2011 for burglary in Peacehaven, assault in Seaford, theft in London and for breaching a suspended sentenced.

The appeal was put out by Sussex Police on Monday to the public through the media and social media. Police received a call at 1am on yesterday morning and the man was arrested at an address in Peacehaven at 1.45am. Police have said he will be sent back to prison.

PC Jon Attfield said: “We would like to thank the public for their swift response which has resulted in the arrest of the man. We were able to get the appeal out quickly yesterday thanks to social media.”
