Planners delay decision on JPK

A DECISION on whether or not an old church can be transformed into a residential home for people with learning difficulties has been put on hold.

Supporters and fundraisers involved in the JPK Project were hoping to find out on Tuesday evening whether or not their plan to convert the Edgmond Evangelical Church hall would be given the go-ahead by Eastbourne Borough Council.

However, the meeting was adjourned at the eleventh hour amid minor disputes over parking rights.

It means that Jill Parker, who started the campaign to help her daughter and others with learning difficulties, will have to wait until that issue can be resolved before another meeting is scheduled.

If approved, the development will see the church changed into accommodation for 24 people with learning disabilities as well as an activity centre, tearoom and charity shop.
