Pevensey and Westham councillor Tony Freebody is putting his best foot forward in this year’s Eastbourne Half Marathon.

Cllr Freebody, who is the East Sussex County Councillor for the Pevensey and Westham area, will be running the 13-mile course through Eastbourne on March 3.

He will be one of hundreds of fundraisers taking part in the annual event, which starts and finishes in Princes Park.

Cllr Freebody will be raising cash for East Sussex Association of Blind and Partially Sighted People (ESAB).

This is the first time that Cllr Freebody has ever enter such an event.

He said, “I am looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time.

“I have been training for several months and it’s become quite addictive.

“I wanted to raise some money for charity at the same time and I am honoured to run for the ESAB which has helped thousands of people regain their independence, confidence and wellbeing, and I hope that people will help me to raise money for such a great cause”

Daniel Brookbank, CEO of ESAB, is delighted that Tony is helping to raise money for them. “I asked Tony via Twitter if he would help and he came back to me straight away,” he said.
