WHAT connects Bob Hoskins, Damian Lewis, Kenny Dalglish and the Attaturk football stadium in Turkey?

The answer is St Bede’s Senior School first year student and drama scholar Perry Eggleton, who recently spent three months filming on location in London, Paris, Turkey and the famous Elstree studios, for his role as the young hero Will in the soon to be premiered film of the same name.

Perry plays 11-year-old Will Brennan, the world’s biggest Liverpool football fan and at his school in southern England, Will’s love and knowledge of the sport is all that sustains him.

Then out of nowhere appears Will’s absentee father Gareth, played by Damian Lewis, with two tickets to the biggest match of the year – the Champions League Final in Istanbul.

But before the two can begin their journey, Gareth’s friend Davey, played by Bob Hoskins has to break the news that Gareth has died suddenly.

Determined to make the trip and honour his father’s dream, Will runs away. En route, he encounters Alek, played by Kristian Kiehling, a former Yugoslavian football star who abandoned the game during his country’s civil war.

Despite his initial reluctance to help, Alek finds himself inspired by Will’s heroic journey and helps him fulfil his dream.

The film also includes cameo performances from Liverpool footballers Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher.

The film premieres in Liverpool later this month and goes on general release soon after.

Perry said he enjoyed working with Bob Hoskins and said he was “a really nice man and very funny”.

He hopes to make his career in acting and for three months appeared as one of Fagin’s gang in the West End production of Oliver.

Currently Perry is in rehearsal for the school’s Christmas production of Bugsy Malone, in which he has a number of parts.
