Patient tracker scoops Michael a trust award

MICHAEL WATSON has won the trust's monthly staff award in recognition for his work in developing a patient tracking system.

He developed the system from scratch which has now become a fundamental instrument for both the trust and the local Primary Care Trusts to monitor the flow of patients through the healthcare system.

Michael, who is a patient monitoring manager, is responsible for the trust's cancer and 18 weeks tracking team.

The system he developed was commended recently as "an excellent model" by the 18 week Intensive Support Team from the Department of Health.

Jayne Black, deputy director of operations, who nominated Michael, said, "Michael is an extremely valuable member of the management team overseeing the flow of cancer patients and ensuring patients are seen within 18 weeks.

"He has formulated and delivered training sessions for all grades of staff helping to ensure all information is captured correctly and efficiently."
