LOVE was most definitely in the air for one Seaford couple after a romantic proposal from the skies.

Mark Harman, 35, decided to pop the question to Louise Coles, his partner of three-and-a-half years, while they enjoyed a Saturday morning stroll along Brighton seafront.

He dropped to his knee shortly before 1pm and told the 44-year-old to look up only for her to see an aeroplane flying over Palace Pier with a message asking her to marry him.

Luckily she said yes and the pair, of Dymock Close, celebrated afterwards with family and friends and a glass of champagne.

Louise, a business sales executive, said she had been expecting something on the day and added, “We had been talking about doing something for a long time. He wanted to make it extra special.

“He said we had to be at a certain place at a certain time.

“He was looking around and I wondered what he was looking for and I heard a plane above my head.

“It was very romantic and really nice for him to have gone to all that trouble.”

Despite concerns that it might not go ahead due to the skies being a bit overcast, the plane flew by as tourists looked on.

The pair, who met while walking their dogs, are now hoping to tie the knot in 2014.

Mark, who owns a building and decorating company, said, “I had planned it for ages. I’m only going to get married once and I wanted to stand out from the crowd and I thought that’s the way to do it.”

Asked how he felt after Louise said yes, he added, “I was relieved, it went very well. There was so much that could go wrong but it was fantastic.”
