MP writes to Health Secretary

Eastbourne MP Stephen Lloyd has written to the Health Secretary following the controversial decision over the future of maternity services at the DGH.

He said, “This week I have written to the Health Secretary, the Prime Minister and the Independent Reconfiguration Panel, as well as submitting a number of Freedom of Information requests to the local NHS.

“I am determined to get to the bottom of this and ensure those people who have failed our town are held to account. At last week’s Emergency General Meeting I was given assurances that this move will only be temporary and I will now do all I can to speed up this process to ensure our hospital gets back its consultant-led maternity as quickly as possible.”

A petition Mr Lloyd created which calls on keeping core services at the DGH currently has 5,000 signatures and needs 100,000 to be debated in Parliament.
