Megan Stammers’ dad speaks of his relief

Megan Stammers’ biological dad has spoken of his relief at his daughter being found safe and well.

Barry Wratten, who lives in Leicester and separated from Megan’s mum when the 15-year-old was just a baby, told the press today that his daughter being found was “the news he had been hoping and praying for”.

The 41-year-old said, “The past week has been absolutely terrible. You don’t want to say it, but sometimes you think the worst.

“So this is wonderful news. It’s brilliant. I can’t say how relieved I am. I just want her back in the UK now with her family.

“My message to Megan would be that I love her very much, and that I am so glad she is safe.

“It might not seem like it to Megan right now, but this is the right thing and is for the best.”

He said that he and Megan had a good relationship, would speak regularly on the phone and meet up a couple of times a year.

Police ended a week-long search for Megan and her maths teacher Jeremy Forrest earlier today (Friday) after tracking them down to southern France.
