Man charged after robbery at Eastbourne convenience store

A man has been charged with a robbery at a convenience store in Eastbourne.

Gavin Johnson, 30, of no fixed address has been charged with robbery at Nisa Local in Green Street, Eastbourne, on Friday. He was due to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday 18 March.

Police were called to the store at around 8.55pm on Friday after reports that a man and a woman had demanded money from the till.

Police searched the local area and arrested two people. No-one was injured as a result of the incident.

A 26-year-old woman from Eastbourne was arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been bailed until June 14 pending further enquiries.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident. They are asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 1608 of 15/3 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
