A MAN has received head injuries after being assaulted by up to four men in Eastbourne in an early morning attack.

The incident took place in Hampden Park in the early hours of Saturday.

Shortly before 8am on Saturday police received a report that a man had received head injuries following an assault in the Brodrick Road area.

It is thought that at around 2.30am the 20-year-old local man was assaulted by three or four men who are known to him.

The victim was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital, and later transferred to Hurstwood Park Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Inspector Damen Funnell of Eastbourne Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We believe the victim was assaulted following an argument with several men he knows. The assault happened in the street so local residents may have seen or heard the incident.

“Officers have been carrying out house to house enquiries in the area and we are keen to hear from anyone who has information about the assault and hasn’t yet spoken to police.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to called Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 402 of 29/9 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
