Major search called off for missing Eastbourne teenager

A major air and sea search for a missing teenage boy at Beachy Head this morning (Monday) has been called off.

Emergency services rushed into action after the 15-year-old boy’s mother reported him missing at 8.30am and feared he was on the beach between Holywell and Belle Tout and could possibly be hiding in caves as he has been found there before.

Both lifeboats were launched and the Sussex Police helicopter also scoured the beach looking for the teenager.

With the high tide approaching it was feared he may have become trapped on the beach.

The search was called off at midday when no trace of him could be found.
