Loyalty card scheme launched in Eastbourne

A new loyalty card scheme offering discounts for residents in Eastbourne while helping to boost the local economy is a step closer to becoming a reality.

Eastbourne Borough Council’s cabinet approved plans for the card which will enable residents to benefit from discounts at participating stores across the town and drive much-needed footfall to traders.

The council will now seek costs on setting up the loyalty card and will invite a member of the Town Team, a group set up to promote local business, to help evaluate tender bids. Subject to an acceptable bid being received, the proposal will move to the next stage of development.

Council leader David Tutt said, “As a council we are working hard to boost our retail economy and the loyalty card will be another great reason for people to stay local and shop in Eastbourne.

“Shops, like all businesses, are facing very challenging trading conditions and need all the help they can get in the form of increased footfall.

“I would therefore urge residents to listen out for updates on the card and apply when the scheme is launched. Having a member of the Town Team, which led a superb bid for Eastbourne to be a Portas Pilot town, on board will ensure the winning scheme meets all our requirements and expectations.”

The council’s Economic Development team has researched the most suitable scheme by talking to residents and traders.

The plans are for a discount scheme with data capture
