Lou and Craig to run for Quicken Trust
TWO HAILSHAM residents are running the first-ever Brighton Marathon next month to give children in Uganda hope that their mothers will live for another 30 years.
Lou Belrhiti, a pupil at St Bede's School, and Craig Ivemy, of Farne Close, have been pounding the streets for the last month or more getting fit for the 26-mile challenge on April 18.
They are raising money for the Hailsham-based Quicken Trust, to help extend the lives of the HIV-positive mothers in the village of Kabubbu.
The charity will use every penny to help treat patients at a newly-opened AIDS clinic.
Quicken Trust founder Geoff Booker said, "We are raising funds to support the recently-built specialist AIDS centre to provide vital drugs to extend the lives of mothers so they can be there to provide loving support for their children as they grow up.
"We can extend mothers' lives by up to 30 years and 300 patients have registered from around Kabubbu.
"Just think how many children won't become yet another third world orphan statistic.
"Our runners would value the support of Hailsham residents, including the hundreds who met some of the orphans at their concert with 12 local schools at the Congress last October."
