Local band’s O2 experience
2 Deep
A BAND fronted by an Eastbourne singer songwriter performed in front of a bumper crowd at London’s Indigo O2 venue as they went head to head with 29 other acts in the final of a UK-wide open mic contest.
Wills Lahache was joined on stage by bandmate Joe Rix, who lives in Brighton, at the showcase earlier this week. And, although they did not take the title, the experience proved hugely valuable to the two-piece outfit, called 2 Deep.
The band battled through two regional heats to make the final.
Wills, who studied at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music, said, “We work very hard at our music, from composition through to performance, and it was really great to get a warm response at the O2.
“We want to thank all our local faithful following - our families and friends from school, college and work.
“They’ve encouraged us to take a professional approach, and, though on the night the judges’ nod went to a professional girl soloist, we’re over the moon that at national level we earned ourselves a great reception and some inspiring comments.”
The pair are looking to add a bassists and drummer to the line-up.
