Lib Dem calls for action on pothole problem
EASTBOURNE Liberal Democrat Stephen Lloyd has questioned East Sussex County Council's commitment to better roads.
Mr Lloyd says residents are disappointed the council has so far failed to deal with the problem.
"Countless potholes have appeared in Eastbourne and Willingdon's roads following the shocking weather over the last month," said Mr Lloyd, "However people are disappointed the county council has so far failed to deal with the problem.
"Nearly every road in the town has been hit by potholes that are causing problems for local people. One resident contacted me after he ended up in A&E at the DGH after falling on bicycle in a pothole. A local garage also contacted me to say it has had a number of vehicles booked in because of damage.
"Worryingly the county council has done little to fix the potholes. If people could contact me with the location of the pot holes they have seen around town, I will personally contact the leader of the county council to make sure action is taken.
"On the main road into Eastbourne from Polegate, many potholes line the road and have yet to be filled in. What signal does this send to visitors to Eastbourne?"
