Eastbourne’s talented young star Isabelle Allen was at the town’s premiere of Les Miserables at Cineworld on Friday to meet fans and sign autographs.

The 10-year-old, who plays the young Cosette in the big budget cinema release, was chosen for the role after she impressed Jeremy Taylor, who heads the National Youth Music Theatre, during a school production of Piper of Hamelin.

He contacted child agent Gaynor Shaw and within 24 hours Isabelle was facing her first audition for the film, which has received nine nominations for this year’s BAFTAS.

Since then the Moira House School pupil - who was picked from thousands of young girls to star in Les Miserables - has worked alongside and rubbed shoulders with the likes of Hollywood heavyweights Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe and Amanda Seyfried.

The film appeared on cinema screens on Friday and Isabelle was at Cineworld at The Crumbles to sign autographs and pose for photographs with fans.Isabelle, who lives with mum Elaine, dad Nigel and 15-year-old sister Amelia, was at the venue to enjoy a private viewing at 7pm.

Representatives from Chestnut Tree House and St Wilfrid’s Hospice were also there to collect funds for the charities.
