Historic village pub to go up for auction

The Lamb Inn, Wartling

The Lamb Inn, Wartling

WARTLING’S historic pub is due to go under the hammer later this month.

Established more than 500 years ago during the turbulent reign of Henry VIII,

The Lamb Inn has been a welcome rest stop from smugglers, bird watchers and walkers over the centuries.

The pub, with a four-bedroom flat, off-road parking, beer garden, three open fires and a fully-fitted pub kitchen, is among 19 lots across Sussex and Surrey being sold by Clive Emson land and property auctioneers at The Hilton Brighton Metropole at 11am on February 22.

James Emson, a regular on the BBC’s popular auction series Homes Under the Hammer, said, “The Lamb is a lovely old English pub, with visitors of the centuries ranging from smugglers of old to bird watchers and walkers these days.

“This picturesque public house is available for immediate occupation or it could be considered for possible change of use, subject to all the necessary consents being obtainable.

“At a price guide of £250-280,000, the cost is hardly a king’s ransom and offers superb value in a semi-rural area with a lot of bricks and mortar. We anticipate a lot of interest.”
