An advice and information centre opened in Old Town at the weekend.

Here4U is being run by Old Town Community Church and has set up shop next to the Co-op in Albert Parade.

It will provide trained volunteers to deal with all manner of enquiries including housing difficulties, benefits issues, food band voucher enquiries, to lifts to appointments, spiritual encouragement, and a friendly listening ear.

Staff will not be able to deal with most of the issues themselves, but will be armed with information about the huge variety organisations and agencies around Eastbourne.

Here4U aims to point people in the right direction.

The centre fully opened to residents yesterday (February 18) following a celebratory opening event at the weekend.

Local councillors Janet Coles and John Ungar attended on Saturday morning and cut the ribbon. They were also able to meet the volunteers who will be manning the centre and residents from the local area.

Musicians provided entertainment for the opening event and cakes were given out.

Here4U will be open between 9.30am to 1.30pm Monday to Friday, with the opportunity to pre-book appointments for Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
