Heavy snow to hit today

Snow is falling across the area this morning.

The Met Office has issued a Yellow Warning for ice for the South East and warns motorists to take exra care due to fresh snow falling on already icy roads.

Southern Trains were reporting a normal service on Sunday morning but passengers still face disruption due to major engineering works and a bus shuttle running between Brighton and Hastings. South Eastern were advising passengers to check on train availability before travelling.

There are disruptions to flights from Heathrow and Gatwick, with Heathrow reporting up to 20 percent of flights in danger of being cancelled.

Snowfall of one to two centimetres is likely with a possibility of up to eight centimetres in places.
