HARRY POTTER COMES TO EASTBOURNE

THE LATEST Harry Potter blockbuster is being filmed in Eastbourne today.

Film company Warner Bros chose the town's picturesque downland to serve as one of the backdrops in the fourth movie, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Film crews will be filming at Beachy Head and Seven Sisters from Wednesday lunchtime through to Thursday evening.

Warner Bros was supposed to be arriving on Monday, but filming had to be scrapped due to poor weather.

Unfortunately, as the downland views are being used as backdrops, none of the actors will be coming to Eastbourne for the filming.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire follows the Philosopher's Stone, the Chamber of Secrets and the Prisoner of Azkaban in the series of films adapted from JK Rowling's novels.

The previous films were all smash hits and raked in millions of pounds across the world.

The latest movie is being directed by Mike Newell, who helmed Four Weddings and A Funeral, and the screenplay is being penned by Steve Kloves, who adapted the first three books.

The Goblet of Fire, which is set for release in November 2005, sees Harry selected as an under-age competitor in a dangerous multi-wizardry school competition.

Filming started in April and other locations across the UK include Gloucester Cathedral, Alnwick Castle, Fort William and Carnforth station —according to Potter fans' websites.

An Eastbourne Borough Council spokesman confirmed that Warner Bros had been scouting around the area.

'They did come here to do a recce, along with several other places in the south of England,' he said.

'Currently no contract has been signed.'
