Hailsham slashing victim released from hospital

A MAN whose face and neck were seriously injured in an attack outside a Hailsham pub at the weekend has been released from hospital.

Police are continuing to search for Lucas Lamb from Hailsham, who they wish to speak to in connection with the incident in which a 52-year-old man received life-changing injuries to his face and neck.

It is believed that some form of bladed item was used to inflict the injuries, according to Sussex Police but this has not yet been recovered. The man had left The Corn Exchange pub in Hailsham High Street to intervene in a dispute at around 1.30am on Sunday (May 13) when he was attacked.

Lucas Lamb, 29, is described as white, 5ft 8in tall, of medium build with dark brown hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a blue shirt.

Detective Inspector Ian Williams said, “The victim of this vicious assault suffered injuries that will leave him scarred for life. We’re fairly sure that the initial dispute broke out between people who are known to each other and there is not a threat to the public at large. However, it is important that we speak to Mr Lamb to establish the exact circumstances of the incident and I would ask anyone who knows his whereabouts to let us know immediately or for him to hand himself in to police. Please call us on 101 quoting Operation Paston.”

The driver of a BMW seen in the area at the time of the incident has now been identified and has been ruled out of the enquiry.

On Monday evening, a 27-year-old man from Heathfield was arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm in connection with an assault on another man during the initial confrontation outside the pub. He was questioned and bailed until June 9
