Two men are due to go on trial on Monday (January 14) over the death of Hailsham dad Darren Croxton.

Mr Croxton was discovered collapsed in the road with knife injuries to his leg after an alleged pre-planned fight in Bramble Drive, Hailsham on the afternoon of January 22 last year.

He was rushed to the Royal Sussex County Hospital and died in hospital the following morning.

Eighteen-year-old Stuart Johnson, of no fixed address, and a 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named because of legal reasons, were charged with his murder and have remained in prison custody since.

They will both appear for trial at Lewes Crown Court on Monday morning.

A special judge has been brought in to preside over the trial, which is expected to last four weeks. A secure dock has also been constructed at the Crown Court in the High Street on the judge’s instructions.

Twenty-five-year-old Mr Croxton was a former Hailsham Community College student and had a young daughter.
