POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in a late night attack as he walked on the Lower Prom between the bandstand and the pier in Eastbourne last Saturday.

The victim suffered a broken cheek bone after he was pushed to the ground and punched by a group of between six and eight people at about 12.30am. He was taken to the DGH for treatment.

Detective Constable Claire Langley said: “The victim suffered a nasty assault but cannot describe his attackers. There would have been people around at that time so we are appealing for anyone who witnessed this to come forward.”

Anyone with information should ring Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 0080 of 29/9.
