Former bank building to come down?

A FORMER bank could be demolished to make way for flats.

The building at 145-147 Seaside was previously used by Lloyds Bank and includes a first floor flat.

Plans have been submitted to demolish the two-storey building and build in its place five one bedroom and three two-bedroom flats on top of a ground floor commercial unit.

Town planners are recommending the redevelopment goes ahead and say the proposed three-storey building would not be out of keeping with the neighbouring listed building Christ Church or the Warrior Square Conservation area.

The building was occupied by Lloyds TSB until 2005 when the branch closed.

The proposed redevelopment will be considered by members of Eastbourne Borough Council's planning committee at their next meeting. (e52031j)
