Flower group seeking new top official

A SEAFORD society which has been in existence for more than 100 years ago is looking for someone to take on the role of membership secretary.

Seaford and District Horticultural Society holds two popular shows in Seaford every year and organises a series of social events for members throughout the year.

The existing membership secretary is leaving the area and therefore, cannot stand for re-election at the organisation's AGM on Monday November 26.

All the society's membership records are currently held on a computer so it would be straight forward to transfer them to a new volunteer. The current post holder will give full assistance and an explanation of the systems to whoever takes over.

The membership secretary forms part of the general committee which has the responsibility of managing the affairs of the society. All committee members are subject to annual election.

The membership secretary is responsible for maintaining the society's membership records and organising the collection of the annual subscriptions. The group is looking for someone who can maintain the existing membership records and also to be pro-active in seeking new members throughout the year.

The committee meets seven or eight times a year for a few hours on a Monday evening. As well as specifically looking for a membership secretary the Seaford and District Horticultural Society is also looking for volunteers to help on the general committee.
