First Responders become stores’s charity partner

VOLUNTEERS who respond to medical emergencies in the town have been chosen as Sainsbury’s Hampden Park’s new charity partner.

Eastbourne Ambulance Community First Responders was picked after the store asked customers to vote for their local charity in May.

The charity will benefit from a year of fundraising by Sainsbury’s staff and customers.

The Local Charity partnership was officially launched in June and customers can now choose to make a donation in-store to Eastbourne Ambulance Community First Responders. Sainsbury’s Hampden Park’s local charity partner last year was Care for the Carers and thanks to customers and colleagues, more than £1,000 was raised for the charity.

During the next 12 months, colleagues will be providing fundraising support for Eastbourne Ambulance Community First Responders and raising awareness of the charity with the local community.

Store manager Tony Gagola said, “Eastbourne Ambulance Community First Responders is such a worthy local cause and we’re pleased and proud to be supporting it over the next 12 months. We’ll be letting our customers know of our fundraising plans in-store and we hope they can join our colleagues in helping support them.”

Matt Briggs of Eastbourne Ambulance Community First Responders said, “I’d like to thank everyone at Sainsbury’s Hampden Park who’s nominated us to be the store’s new Local Charity partner.

“I hope this partnership will raise awareness to Eastbourne residents about what we do and the impact we have in the community. We now look forward to a successful year working with the store’s colleagues on this exciting initiative.”
