Jones Bootmaker is helping staff made redundant from its Eastbourne headquarters by advertising their skills to potential employers.
Bosses at Jones have taken the unusual step of placing a full-page advert in the Eastbourne Herald highlighting the availability of those workers made redundant by the bootmakers and listing their skills.
They include finance, warehouse operatives, drivers and warehouse administration, ICT, E-commerce, payroll, HR, marketing, property administration and reception/front of house who all worked in Jones’ Maple Road building.
A number of redundancies were announced by Jones last year, after the company decided to relocate its head office operations to Leicester and London. However, the company is now assisting those who will lose their jobs by April or May this year.
Specialist advisors have been working with staff to advise on issues such as benefit claims, recruitment and even job interview techniques.
Andrew White, managing director of Jones Bootmaker, said, “While we were extremely disappointed to announce a number of redundancies, we are working hard to help those affected in every way we can.
“The advert allows us to highlight the areas in which the staff we are losing are trained, all in the hope that potential employers in the Eastbourne area will snap them up. I would appeal to all business owners to consider if they have any openings that may be suitable.”
