Festival is launched with parade
EASTBOURNE Festival was launched with a parade along the seafront at the weekend (11th April).
The first week has proved to be a big success and there are plenty of events lined up for the second week.
There are still two more weekends to visit the many artists' Open Houses taking place as part of the 2009 festival.
More than 100 visual artists, including painters, printmakers, sculptors, jewellers, potters and practitioners from other disciplines, are opening their houses and studios to show and sell recent work.
Many have joined together as groups (Art 22, Stretton, 38 The Goffs, The Big House, The White House and several others) to show a mix of work. The Eastbourne Group of Artists, Eastbourne Photographic Society, Eastbourne Society of Artists and The Sovereign Harbour Art Group are all holding exhibitions.
For full details of Open Houses, as well as all other Eastbourne Festival events, pick up your copy of the festival brochure now, available from the Festival Information Centre at the Big Sleep hotel, Eastbourne Library and Tourist Information Centre, or download a copy from the festival website at www.eastbournefestival.co.uk
