Family fun day to raise funds for St Andrew's Hall
A DAY of family fun is set to raise much-needed cash for St Andrew's Church Hall which was destroyed by arsonists in May.
The community fair, which is being organised by the church, will be held on August 7 at the Archery Recreation Ground, Seaside, between 10am and 4pm.
There will be a range of attractions at the fair including a barbecue, beer tent, arena events, miniature railway rides and a pre-school fancy dress parade.
Among the arena events will be performances by the Kingfisher Scout Band, Young EODS, Sussex School of Dance and Little Gems Dance Group. Eastbourne Silver Band will be providing musical entertainment during the afternoon.
Entrance to the community fair is free and all proceeds from the event will go towards a new hall and general church funds.
Organisers from the church say the event is being held to thank the local community for their support when the church hall was destroyed by the blaze and raise money for a new hall.
It is hoped a newly-built hall will be opened in 2012, at the start of St Andrew's Church's centenary year. Architects have been employed to start planning a new hall and the church is asking the community to help raise money for the project. Insurance money will cover the basic costs of the demolition and re-build but there will be an estimated shortfall of around 45,000.
