EX-RESIDENT BANNED FROM TOWN STORES

A FORMER Seaford resident has been banned from entering a handful of stores in the town after being given an Anti-Social Behaviour Order.

Lita Dawson is well known to the police after committing a series of offences, including having sex on the beach in full view of families and children.

The 52-year-old was convicted early this year of common assault by beating and theft and given a community order with supervision and an alcohol treatment requirement.

After hearing how she had acted in an anti-social manner an ASBO was served on her which prohibits Dawson from being drunk in any public place in the Lewes district and acting in a threatening, abusive or insulting manner.

She has also been banned from entering a handful of stores in Seaford and Newhaven.

These include the Co-op in Broad Street, Seaford as well as the Superdrug store in the town and Tesco Express in Sutton Park Road. Dawson is also prohibited from entering the Co-op store in Newhaven Square.

Dawson used to live in Pelham Road in Seaford and had recently been staying in Jevington Gardens in Eastbourne but is currently of no fixed abode.

Acting Seaford Sergeant Christopher Wright said, “In recent months Lita Dawson has become a relatively well known figure in both Seaford and Newhaven, regrettably all too often as a result of drawing negative attention to herself.

“Ourselves and partner agencies have worked hard in an effort to support her in breaking the cycle of offending and associated anti-social behaviour.

“As such I am delighted that she has now been issued with an ASBO which clearly defines what is expected of her should she continue to live anywhere within Lewes District. Dawson can now be in no doubt that the kind of behaviour she has previously demonstrated to the detriment of the community as a whole will not be tolerated.”

Back in December 2010 Dawson, who had been living in Mercread Road, Seaford, was evicted on the grounds of anti-social behaviour following a joint intervention from Lewes District Council and Sussex Police.
