EMPLOYEES at an Eastbourne company are coming to terms with the sudden death of their financial director.

Jeremy Green, the financial controller at Welbeing, the provider of Lifeline services in Eastbourne, died on January 5 after a short illness. Jeremy leaves his wife Kay and their two sons, Daniel and Thomas. He began his career working for Berlitz and later worked for Barnet Gold Insurers, Stagecoach and Davies and Tate.

Managing director of Welbeing Mark Bannister said, “Jeremy was a much valued and respected colleague who will be greatly missed by everyone at Welbeing.

“His tragic and untimely passing came as a terrible shock for us all. Our thoughts are with his family and friends, especially his wife Kay and their two boys, Daniel and Thomas.

“Jeremy made a really significant contribution to the success of Welbeing and was held in the highest esteem by everyone he worked with.”

Jeremy was a collector of military campaign medals and cap badges dating back to the Napoleonic wars and also collected comic art.

He loved visiting France and enjoyed holidaying in Denmark, the United States and Eastern Europe.

Jeremy became a Catholic in 1997 and was involved in the Alpha course, prayer groups in Lewes and Eastbourne and enjoyed developing his understanding of Christianity at Ellel.

Mark said, “Jeremy was a lovely husband, father, friend and colleague.

“Since his death, Kay, Jeremy’s wife, has had so many wonderful comments from people who knew him particularly at church, at work, and on the medal forum he enjoyed discussing his favourite subject. The overall impression he gave was always one of being a ‘gentle giant’.

He had a great sense of humour, tried to be kind and helpful wherever he could and was willing to give his time and energies to anyone who needed his help. He will be greatly missed by his father Geoff, Kay and Daniel and Thomas.”
