Eco development under microscope

PLANS for an 'underground' development of eco-homes and an electricity-generating windmill in Seaford are due to be discussed tomorrow (Thursday).

The proposal to build on land in Surrey Road known as The Dip will be heard by the town council's planning and highways committee.

The latest outline planning applications are from local developers the Rigden Group and include four two-bedroom and eight three-bedroom earth sheltered eco-homes and a windmill incorporating electricity generating capacity and two three-bedroomed houses.

Campaign group Defenders of the Dip, who protested against previous plans to build on the site, said they would oppose the latest application. A spokesman for the group said the proposals would deprive Seaford of an open area and affect wildlife.

Other items on tomorrow's agenda include plans to build two two bed detached houses on the former tennis court site at Corsica Hall.

The meeting will take place at Seaford Baptist Church in Belgrave Road at 6.15pm.
