Eco-artist supports charity
FOR the second year running Seaford environmental artist Jo Allen has given her support to a local charity.
Jo, who held her summer exhibition Seeing at the Crypt Gallery in Seaford, creates sculptures from marine debris collected from Seaford Bay.
She said, "I spend a lot of time on the beach and I know what a fantastic job our lifeguards do. "During the exhibition we asked people to show their appreciation by making a small donation and raised an amazing 186.48."
Jo's husband, builder Nick Allen, pledged to match the amount collected and was with Jo when together they presented the cheque for 372.96 to Seaford Lifeguards.
Pete Gwilliam, who received the cheque on behalf of the organisation, said, "Jo and her husband Nick are two of our greatest supporters.
"Once again we are indebted to them for their fantastic donation and every penny shall be put to good use, providing a safe beach for our visitors and townsfolk alike.
"Thank you both so very much."
You can still see Jo's work as she launches her poetry and photography collection, also entitled Seeing this month.
She will be signing copies of the book at Natures Nectar, High Street, Seaford from 10am to 1pm on Saturday November 7 and 1 from the sale of every book will go to Seaford Lifeguards.
