Eastbourne woman dies after fall from garden swing

A MOTHER-of-three has died after falling off a garden swing in her back garden.

Forty-year-old Emma White hit her head when she fell off a tyre swing in the garden of her home in Willow Close on Sunday January 21.

Mrs White was rushed to Eastbourne District General Hospital before being transferred to the specialist head injury unit at Hurstwood Park in Haywards Heath.

She died six days later.

Friends say the swing was a tyre tied to a rope. Her husband Neil and the couple’s three young children were present.

There are no suspicious circumstances and the matter is being investigated by the coroner’s office. An inquest has been opened and adjourned.

Mrs White, a ceramic artist, was a former pupil at Bishop Bell School and numerous tributes have been left to her on her social networking Facebook page.

Friend Nic Booth said, “Heaven has gained a new angel,” and Glenn Greengrass Dudley said, “RIP Emma, such sad news.”

John Tiltman said, “Miss you Emma, a fine talented person,” and Amelia Rawlinson, said, “Emma, you will be truly missed by all your friends and family. You were such a loving and caring person, and I will never forget you.”

Mrs White’s stepmother Marjory Donoghue said, “Em, I will miss you so very much. You welcomed me into your life some 15 years ago and brought so much joy to myself and my family.

“I have loved you like my own daughter. I will remember all the good times we had and will never forget you. May God take care of you now until we meet again.”
