Eastbourne woman recovering in hospital with multiple stab wounds

A 62-year-old Eastbourne woman received multiple stab wounds in a domestic incident in the town centre last night.

Police were called to Saffrons Road, Eastbourne at 9.45pm yesterday. The woman was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with multiple stab wounds, but Sussex Police report that she is stable while awaiting surgery.

A 53-year-old man from Eastbourne has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is in custody.

A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: “Investigations are on going with officers from the Adult Protection Team but the victim and the man arrested are known to each other and no-one else is being looked for at this time.”
