Eastbourne man victim of “vicious” robbery on seafront

A 40-year-old Eastbourne mans has been assaulted and robbed of his iphone and wallet close to the seafront.

The man had been out in the town with friends, according to police. At about 3am last Friday, September 28, as he walked alone home, the am was approached by four men behind the Burlington Hotel, Cavendish Place.

One demanded his phone and the victim was threatened with a knife and kicked. He suffered cuts and bruises in the assault and was found by doorstaff in Burlington Road. An ambulance took him to the DGH where he was treated for his injuries.

Detective Sergeant Joanne Benton said: “This was a vicious assault and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the attack or has any information. We are following a number of enquiries. Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101 or the independent Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.”
