Eastbourne College old boy found dead on eve of birthday

A popular Eastbourne College old boy was found dead at his home the day before his 45th birthday.

Mark Symonds was captain of the college’s golf club, opening bat for the cricket team and an accomplished swimmer and high board diver during his

time at the prestigious school and became a successful businessman after moving to nearby St Leonards.

A private funeral took place at Hastings Crematorium took place on Friday and an inquest will likely be held to determine the exact circumstances of his death, which happened last month.

Mr Symonds had helped raise hundreds of pounds for a horticultural project in Hastings which helped support disabled adults and once dived from the top of the Verzasca Dam in Switzerland.
