Dog warden faces axe

Eastbourne’s dog warden is to be scrapped in a council shake up.

The position is one 18 which are going and the dog warden is expected to leave her post at the end of next month.

Council bosses however say the council’s dog warden service Will be considerably improved under a new Customer First model being introduced at the authority.

A team of nine neighbourhood advisors will deal with dog monitoring and enforcement, including issues around dog fouling and an external contractor will be used to handle all stray dog collections.

A spokesperson said, “The new dog warden system will be more flexible and offer a far wider range of services.”
