Do you know this silver 4x4? Police want to trace driver after cyclists injured outside Berwick Station
Police are trying to trace the driver of this silver 4x4 vehicle towing a horse box which drove off after two Eastbourne cyclists were injured in a collision outside Berwick Station.
A 48-year-old man from Eastbourne suffered serious injuries, a 32-year-old man also from Eastbourne sustained minor injuries, while a third cyclist, a 34-year-old man from Hailsham, was uninjured.
The incident happened at around 10.10am on Sunday, December 9 when the three cyclists were travelling north along Station Road when they were overtaken by the vehicle which was towing a horse box.
According to police, as the 4x4 overtook, the cyclists came off their bikes. The driver of the vehicle drove off from the scene and has not been traced.
Police have now released stills of the incident taken from a CCTV camera at Berwick Station in the hope of tracing the driver.
PC Gary Douglas of Sussex Police’s Road Policing Unit said: “It is likely that the driver of the vehicle is aware of the collision and the subsequent injuries caused to the cyclists and we are keen to speak to the driver involved.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision and saw the silver vehicle to contact Sussex Police.”
