DEMOLITION work has begun at the Beachcomber site in Seaford.

Seaford’s last seafront pub is being turned into care apartments, despite many residents battling to save it.

A series of planning applications to build on the site in Dane Road were put forward. Several were turned down but a planning application to redevelop it was approved on appeal last year.

The application included 50 care apartments and a building for 10 age-restricted apartments for the frail elderly.
