Couple were assaulted in knife attack as they sat in van: court hears

FIFTY-year-old Paul Nicholls is beginning a two-year jail sentence after a knife attack in an Eastbourne.

A man and a woman were attacked by Nicholls as the couple sat in their stationary van in Channel View Road.

The pair were attacked through the window of the van in which the 36-year-old man received deep lacerations to his face, arms and hands and which were caused by a knife.

The 36-year-old female victim suffered a broken finger during the attack with took place last January.

Detective Constable Tod Stewart of Eastbourne CID said afterwards: “This was not a random attack but came about following previous issues between Nicholls and the couple.”

Nicholls, from Catford in south London appeared at Hove Crown Court on Friday for sentencing after being found guilty on August 24 of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm, and having an article with blade in public place.
