A church is offering free financial advice sessions to all Seaford residents.

The third Monday of January is commonly known as Blue Monday due to the combination of post-Christmas blues, cold dark nights and the arrival of unpaid credit card bills.

This makes it the ideal time for Seaford Baptist Church to offer free courses to help those in difficulties to get their New Year finances in order.

Seaford Baptist Church is running the CAP Money Course following training from the debt charity Christians Against Poverty.

CAP money coach, and member of the congregation, Fran Allen, said, “We are putting on this course because we know how financial worry can mess up relationships and cause havoc with health and wellbeing.”

“The CAP Money Course is there to debt-proof families against this kind of stress and with something like a third of us having relied on credit to get us through Christmas, it might be the best resolution we can make going into 2013.

“More than 20,000 people have enjoyed these debt prevention sessions across the UK in the past few years and it’s helped bring them real peace of mind – which we think is a good way to start the New Year.”

The confidential sessions comprise three hours spread over three weeks and help people to create a household budget, prioritise spending, begin saving and re-organise their banking.

It is designed to be helpful to anyone whether unemployed, receiving benefits, working, self-employed, retired, newly- married or recently divorced.

To book a place call Seaford Baptist Church office on 01323 896009 or email Fran or Bill Allen on wja@clara.co.uk

Courses are currently planned for Saturday mornings, but other times may be arranged to meet demand.
